Do I need to be home for junk removal?+
Not necessarily. If the items are accessible (garage, curb, unlocked area) and you've confirmed the scope and price ahead of time, we can often complete the job without you present. We'll always confirm details by phone or text beforehand and send photos when it's done.
What can't you take?+
We handle household and light commercial junk removal — appliances (with proper Freon recovery for fridges, freezers and AC units), furniture, and general debris — plus demolition of sheds, outbuildings, mobile homes, decks, and slabs. We don't currently handle hazmat or biohazard situations. If you're not sure whether something qualifies, text us a photo and we'll tell you straight.
How is junk removal priced?+
By measured volume. We roll a measuring wheel along your pile — length × width × average height, in feet, gives cubic feet — and every 28 cubic feet is one-eighth of a load. A single item (up to 10 cu ft) is $109. Loads run $149 for 1/8 (up to 28 cu ft) to $459 for a full load (up to 224 cu ft), and bigger jobs add loads on the same scale. It's the same price whether it rides in our truck or our trailer, with labor, fuel and dump fees included. Text a photo and we'll tell you which tier it lands in and the exact price before we show up — no hourly rate, no surprise line items.
Do you do demolition?+
Yes — sheds, outbuildings, mobile homes, decks, and concrete slabs. Heavy material and debris haul-off is a flat $185 per ton; a structure itself is walked and quoted on site since size and access vary too much for a flat price.
How is junk removal different from renting a dumpster?+
A dumpster rental means you load it yourself over several days and pay for the rental whether it's full or not. Junk removal means our crew shows up, loads everything, and hauls it away the same visit — no lifting, no rental period to manage, and pricing based on the actual space your items take up rather than a flat container fee.
How do I get rid of an old refrigerator or freezer in Laramie?+
We handle full appliance removal, including refrigerators, freezers, and window AC units that contain refrigerant. An appliance is priced like any single item — $109, labor and disposal included — and anything with refrigerant adds a flat $35 for Freon recovery, so a fridge or freezer on its own is $144 all-in. Hauling it with other junk? It just goes on the load scale, plus the $35.
Why is refrigerant (Freon) dangerous?+
Refrigerant — commonly known by the brand name Freon — is a pressurized chemical found in refrigerators, freezers, and AC units. If it's released into the air instead of professionally recovered, it can displace oxygen in enclosed spaces (a suffocation risk), cause frostbite-like burns on contact with skin, and it's harmful to the atmosphere if it escapes into the environment. Federal law actually requires refrigerant to be recovered by a certified technician before an appliance is scrapped — it can't just be thrown in a dumpster. That's why every fridge, freezer, or AC unit we remove goes through proper Freon recovery (a flat $35), handled properly and sent to a local recycler instead of being vented or landfilled.
Do you offer same-day junk removal?+
Often, yes. We're open 8am–5pm daily and same-day appointments are frequently available depending on our schedule — call or text (307) 241-2875 to check same-day availability, or use the instant estimator on our site to get a price while you wait for us to confirm a time.
Do you serve areas outside Laramie, like Cheyenne, Bosler, Centennial, or Rock River?+
Yes — we regularly serve Cheyenne, Bosler, Centennial, Rock River, and the rest of Albany County. Jobs within 15 miles of our Laramie shop have travel already built into the price; trips farther out (including Cheyenne) add $1 per mile, which we'll always calculate and confirm before the job starts.
Do you work with property managers and landlords?+
Yes. We work regularly with property managers, landlords, and realtors on unit turnovers, eviction cleanouts, and move-out debris, with bundle discounts for multiple units booked together. Partners get their own portal to request cleanouts and view job history without re-explaining who they are each time — call (307) 241-2875 to set one up.
What forms of payment do you accept?+
Cash, check, or card, due upon completion of the job unless other terms have been arranged in advance.
Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes — Vigil Hauling & Junk Removal is licensed and insured, carrying commercial general liability coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence with a $2,000,000 aggregate limit, and family owned and operated right here in Laramie. A certificate of insurance is available on request.
